Watch: The Vince Foster Cover-up: The FBI and The Press
Summary of the case
On Tuesday afternoon, July 20, 1993, Vincent W. Foster, President Bill Clinton’s deputy White House Counsel, was murdered by gunshot to his head. The bullet entered on the right side of his neck, just below the jaw line. It was small-caliber; a “reload” with a light powder charge used to minimize blowback onto the shooter. The location was a secluded area of Fort Marcy Park, just ten miles from the White House. The park was almost always deserted.
When the call went into 9-1-1 at 6:00 p.m. the crime-scene had not yet been staged. Two Fire and Rescue workers arrived at 6:09 p.m., followed by nine more Fire and Rescue workers over the next ten minutes. They saw the entrance wound in Foster’s neck, the revolver had not yet been placed in his hand, and neither his car nor his car keys were at the park.
While the crime had been an obvious homicide, beginning the very next day, the media reported that it was an apparent suicide. For the next four years the media reported that the various FBI investigations were going to conclude the death was a suicide. It was the longest sustained press leak in U.S. history. Nor did the media reveal that, because the prosecutor assigned to the case refused to go along with the cover-up, Ken Starr appointed a compliant prosecutor, Brett Kavanaugh.
Had the media reported the obvious fact of the murder, instead of acting as the FBI’s public relations department, Bill Clinton would not have been elected to a second term. Thus, the FBI’s cover-up, and the media’s acquiescence, deprived America of its true history. This is a matter of great importance.
